A group of over 70 islands around 16 kilometres of the north-east coast of Scotland, around 20 of the Orkney Islands, including the mainland, Rousay and Sanday, are inhabited. It has a population of just under 20,000 people. Awarded World Heritage status, Neolithic Orkney is the perfect place for those interested in history, comprising the well-known preserved village of Skara Brae, and the Standing stones of Stenness.
