On the southwestern tip of England, sheltered by Mount's Bay in Cornwall lies the port town of Penzance, with a population of around 21,000 inhabitants. It's well known for its mild climate, and of course the famous Gilbert and Sullivan opera Pirates of Penzance. It's a great base for anyone looking to explore Cornwall further, with some curious architecture including an Egyptian House, the Market house and the Turk's Head Inn. Don't miss the Golowan Festival at the end of June, a curio which mixes customs and culture in equal parts.
