With a total population of 525,000 inhabitants, Sheffield in northern Yorkshire, England, is one of the country's largest cities. It lies beside Rotherham and Barnsley, and is immediately east of the Peak District National Park as well as the Pennines. Its split between five rivers, and is one of the greenest cities in England. Known for being the industrial nerve centre of the north, today the city's ongoing redevelopment means it's also a place of cultural and touristic significance. Don't miss the Millennium Galleries, where touring exhibitions can be viewed for the bargain price of free!
