Guide to Windermere

Located in the county of Cumbria, and surrounded by the Lake District National Park, Windermere town is around 1 kilometre from the largest lake in England, Windermere, which has 18 islands, and is 18 kilometres long. The town has a population of just over 8000 inhabitants, and enjoys an idyllic view of the surrounding mountainside. take a ferry along the lake's waters, checkout the Steamboat Museum in Bowness or head to the nearby town of Bowness-on-Windermere, one of the official stops for the Olympic torch in 2012!
