Vientiane to Bangkok

Train

Since early in 2009 it has been possible to travel by train from Thanaleng, 13 kms from Vientiane all the way through to Bangkok. The train departs at 1700, changes in Nong Khai and arrives in Bangkok at 0625. Total journey time is around 14 hours. It isn't possible to buy a ticket from Thanaleng straight through to Bangkok, instead purchase your ticket from Thanaleng to Nong Khai at the station. If you have a few days before travel then you can buy your onward ticket to Bangkok online, failing that you can also buy it at the station in Nong Khai.
