Guide to Jerusalem

map
The capital of Israel and one of its largest cities, Jerusalem is located in the Judean Mountains, approximately 740 metres above sea level. It lies 60 kilometres east of the Mediterranean Sea and Tel Aviv, and has a total population of 780,000 people living in its urban area. With a long and chequered history the city is a holy city for Christianity, Islam and Judaism, and the Old City area is part of a World Heritage Site. Don't miss its museum, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are kept and the Garden Tomb, containing the tomb of Jesus.
