Jordan is bordered by Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria and Israel, and washed by the River Jordan and the Red Sea. The Arabian Desert covers over half of its surface, though it also sprouts Mediterranean forest and rises to a highland area of arable land in the west. , Jordan has four principal regions, Northern Jordan, the King’s Highway, its Eastern Desert and the Southern Desert, and a population of around 6.5 million people. Its capital city is Amman which lies to the north-west of the country. Known for being a modern, liberal place, Jordan is also one of the wealthiest destinations in the Middle-East.
