Situated on the western shoreline of North America, Vancouver Island is a huge peninsula over 460 kilometres in length. It's separated from the mainland by the Johnstone and Queen Charlotte Straits, and is rises in its centre into the Vancouver Island Range. The island has a total population in excess of 700,000 people, and its capital is the city of Victoria. The island is all about nature; walk through its ancient rainforests, head out over the surrounding waters to watch whales or tour its woodland in search of grizzly bears!
