Guide to Fort Lauderdale

map
On Florida's Atlantic coast, to the east of the state lies the city of Fort Lauderdale, with a population of 165,000. Well known as a tourist destination, the city is veined by a system of canals, marinas and boatyards. The beach, also known as The Strip, is littered with former spring break bars, but now welcomes more upscale clientele. Fish off one of the piers, take a dinner cruise or club hop the bars along SW 2nd Street. Adventure seekers should head to the rollercoaster park, while wildlife fans will find thrills at the Swamp Safari.
