Guide to Washington DC

map
With a population of 5.5 million people living in its metropolitan area, the city of Washington DC is the seventh largest in the United States, as well as the country's capital. It lies on the Potomac River, and it's highest point is in Fort Reno Park. The city is famously home to the Capitol Building, and the White House, and the Washington Monument. The majority of the city's sights, monuments and museums can be found on The Mall. Tourists wishing to tour the White House can do so on application, but be warned, it's a beaurocratic process and needs to be arranged weeks in advance!
