Argentina is the second largest country in South America, and the eighth largest in the world. Nestling to the east of Chile, and reaching down from its northern borders with Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to skirt the southernmost tip of the South American land mass, the country’s eastern coastline traces its coastline along the South Atlantic Ocean. This Spanish-speaking nation rises into the peaks of the Andes to its west, and holds claim to certain areas of the Antarctic to its south. Argentina has a total population of 41 million people, and its capital is the autonomous city of Buenos Aires, with a total population of 3 million. Other significant cities include Cordoba, Rosario, Mendoza and Tucuman.
