With a population of around 59,000 people, Santa Cruz is a small town on Monterey Bay in California, around 70 kilometres south of San Francisco. Santa Cruz is nicknamed Surf City, and has a very bohemian feel with its boardwalk and counterculture. The amusement park is well worth a dalliance, its mystery spot promises a few bizarre attractions and the surfing museum will attract lovers of this sport. The nearby Big Basin Redwoods State Park shouldn't be missed, the perfect retreat for nature lovers and the oldest of its kind in the US.
