Guide to Machu Picchu

map
Located around 80 kilometres north of Cusco, Machu Picchu is an Incan site located at almost 8000 feet high on a mountain ridge near the Urubamba Valley in Peru. It's well known for its beautiful preservation, and as a World Heritage Site as well as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It has three principal temples, and if you can reach the Sun Gate before dawn you'll be rewarded with a remarkable sight. Don't miss a trek up Wayna Picchu, for an incredible view of the surrounding landscape.
