Bali's capital city, Denpasar lies to the south of the island, and has a population of 788,000 inhabitants. Well known to tourists for its beautiful beaches, friendly inhabitants and fantastic surfing, the city also has some beautiful temples. Visit the ancient temple of Pura Maospahit. Though damaged by an earthquake, it's still one of the most peaceful in the city. Check out the Taman Wedhi Budaya Cultural Centre, a museum which exhibits the best of Balinese art, as well as hosting Gamelan orchestra performances.
