With a total population of 103,000 people, Luang Prabang is capital of the province of the same name. It lies at the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers, and lies around 425 kilometres from the capital of Laos, Vientiane. It's known for its monasteries and temples, and the city is a recognised World Heritage Site. Don't miss the picturesque Kuang Si Falls, an astounding natural sight south of the city.
