Guide to Vientiane

With a population of over 750,000 residents, Vientiane is the capital of Laos, and is located on a bend of the Mekong River, near the Laos border with Thailand. As well as peaceful temples like Wat Si Saket and Pha That Luang, Vientiane has a curious Buddha Park filled with sculptures. There are also mosques, a university and one of Laos's only bowling alleys. Enjoy a mellow Beerlao in one of the local bars, and don't miss Patuxai, a victory gate which resembles the Arc de Triomphe.
