They say variety is the spice of life, and both spice and variety are in great evidence on a visit to Malaysia. Many quite different travelers and holidaymakers are able to find what they are looking for in Malaysia due to the sheer diversity of the environments and experiences on offer throughout the country. Movement of peoples caused by European colonization, which ended just over fifty years ago has also brought a number of different ethnic groups to the region; a diversity which is also evident in the wonderful (spicy) food! The majority of the population is Malay, but there are large and significant numbers of people of both Chinese and Indian origin who have called Malaysia home for many generations. The Malay population is predominantly Muslim and the Islamic influences on the country are quite apparent, definitely adding an additional flavor to a visit.
