Guide to Penang

map
A state in Malaysia, Penang is divided between the island of Pulau Pinang and Severang Perai on the peninsula. They are separated by the North and South Channels, and it is bordered by Kedah and Perak. It has a total population of over 1.5 million inhabitants. It's well known for its cuisine, beaches and for its principal town, George Town, which is a World Heritage Site. Don't miss the formidably long Penang Bridge, the Kek Lok Si-temple of Supreme Bliss, one of South-East Asia's largest, or the many festivals which kindle across the city including Chinese New Year, The Feast of St Anne and the Floral Festival.
