Hoi An is a delightful textile town located in central Vietnam. The town makes an excellent stop on a train journey from Hanoi to Saigon and should be seriously considered by anyone visiting Vietnam. The nearest train station and airport are in the nearby city of De Nang but a connecting taxi is inexpensive.

 

The town has grown around its best assets; tailoring, tourism and marble! There are huge numbers of tailors vying for your business. When you enter a shop you will be offered a wide variety of catalogues to choose the style of your garment. You then wander the shop to select the fabric. Anything from cocktail dresses and suits to a t-shirt can be whipped up on even the shortest of visits. Don’t be afraid to barter to get a decent price, it’s expected.
