Guide to Hue

map
Vietnam's former imperial capital, Hue is a richly historic city in Thua Thien-Hue province. It has a population of 950,000 people, and can be found in the centre of the country, on the banks of the Perfume River. It's 700 kilometres south of Hanoi. Hue has attained UNESCO World Heritage Status for its historic monuments, and its Citadel was formerly part of a forbidden city of emperors. Don't neglect to visit the Tombs of the Emperors, which contain ornate mosaics, gardens and lakes, and check out the many hot springs around the city.
